Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) in New Brunswick
The Deep Woods: easing the memories that won’t let go
I offer Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) in person in Fredericton, New Brunswick, for adults who have lasting effects from a traumatic event, or who have specific fears or anxieties, such as going to the dentist, or flying. ART uses gentle guided eye movements to help painful memories feel less intense, and you don’t have to say every detail out loud. One memory often takes one to two 90-minute sessions.
Groundwork Session: Before we start ART, we meet for at least one 50-minute session ($160). We’ll talk about what you’d like to work on, build a few skills to help you feel steady, and try some eye-movement sets so you know what to expect and that you are comfortable with them.
ART sessions: ART sessions are booked as 90-minute sessions. Booking the longer session gives us time to work through a memory from start to finish in one sitting. Many memories can be reconsolidated in a single session; some take a little longer.
Where: I offer ART in person on Fredericton’s northside.
Cost Help: I direct bill Medavie Blue Cross, Veterans Affairs Canada, and TELUS eClaims. Reduced fee spots are available through the Canopy Program.
How ART works
ART works with the images and body sensations a memory or fear holds, not just the story of what happened or the anticipation of what could. We utilize guided eye movements in short sets along with remembered images and current sensations to help reconsolidate the memory.

Questions about ART
-
No. You’ll know what what you’re working on and I just need to know enough about the them to guide the process, but you don’t have to share every detail.
-
No. Both use eye movements, but ART is a separate, structured method with its own training and approach.
-
Yes. If several hard experiences share a common theme, we can work with that theme by selecting a strategic target memory. This can help with complex or repeated trauma, especially if you’d rather not describe what happened, or don’t remember it clearly.

Is ART right for you?
ART may suit you if particular memories keeps trickling in to your present sometimes in the form of flashbacks or triggers. It can also suit you if talking through every detail feels like too much. I will know the basics of what were working on, but the details can stay yours.
